Eclectic Collectic is owned and operated by Elaine Thomson. She has been a practicing Occupational Therapy Assistant for 27 years. Elaine became interested in alternative therapies through her work in the field. In 2001, she began formal training in herbal studies and aromatherapy. Since then, she has completed over 350 hours of training, including training from Jeanne Rose's Institute of Aromatic Studies. During her coursework, she worked with more than 50 documented case studies, including a variety of symptoms and ailments such as skin conditions, allergies, colds, anxiety, and pain; all of these being resolved through the skilled use of plants and essential oils.
Her philosophy is "that people should limit their exposure to pollutants, especially the ones in mass produced skin care products and foods. Simply using a good, handmade bar of herbal soap can have a profound effect on a person's health. Incorporating herbs and essential oils into one's daily life is not difficult, it only requires a determination to be responsible for and educated about one's own health."
Dismayed by 'Modern' Medical Practices, the Insurance Industry, and the Beauty Industry which targets women and tries to convince them that they need to use 'toxic' chemicals in and on our bodies in order to be better. Elaine is devoted to do what she can to help the world by helping people to be well. She believes in intensive research, safe practices, and education. With these tools, she wants to be able to help people help themselves to stay healthy by using plants and essential oils as a routine part of their daily lives. She keeps the costs down by using inexpensive packaging, so that the everyday person can afford a healthy life and be kind to the planet.
